Retreats

Double Honor Ministries hosts pastor retreats at locations

across the United States and abroad.

Overview

Double Honor Ministries hosts pastor retreats at many locations in the United States and abroad. Approximately 28 retreats for pastors and ministry leaders (with their spouses) will be offered each year. We provide the retreats free of charge because of faithful and generous donors who support this very needed ministry to Christian pastors.

Each DH Group Retreat will be conducted by one of Double Honor’s designated retreat facilitators who will invite 3-7 ministry couples of their choosing. The Double Honor Retreats include accommodations, meals, and some travel expenses. Additionally, dining out and recreational expenses (up to the maximum allowed by DH policy) will be reimbursed to the guest upon presentation of itemized receipts and documentation.

NOTE: Double Honor does not reimburse for alcohol or personal grooming such as manicures, pedicures, facials, or hair salon related expenses. Each guest will receive a WELCOME PACKET via email approximately one month prior to the retreat.  The Double Honor Expense Reimbursement Policy and all details of the retreat will be included in the packet.

If you or your pastor would like to be a guest at a Double Honor Retreat (and can attend the whole Monday through Friday retreat), please email us at officedoublehonor@gmail.com. Double Honor will contact you with more information!

Details
In 2014, Double Honor Ministries was formed specifically to bless pastors and ministry leaders.
Double Honor Group Retreat guests enjoy a complementary 5 day respite which includes accommodations, meals, some travel expenses, and entertainment or recreation.

Each retreat is led by experienced ministers who are compensated with an honorarium. Currently, we have 25 facilitators (husband/wife teams) who passionately serve the guests in attendance.

Most retreats are limited to 4-7 couples, which allows a small group dynamic. Retreats are loosely structured with ample free time to allow guests to unplug,  relax, enjoy quality time with their spouse.

Retreats include daily encouragement sessions in a group setting. Guests share their  concerns, struggles, prayers, and solutions to issues unique to ministry leaders.

Couples are encouraged to share a date night during each retreat.
Recreational activities and relaxation are encouraged during retreats to refresh the body, soul, and spirit.
To ensure a peaceful and restful setting, all Double Honor Retreats are adults only.
Double Honor is non-denominational and Kingdom-minded, holding retreats in all seasons.

Each retreat is structured to facilitate three to seven couples and will include a daily Group Encouragement Sessions. Guests are free to share as much (or as little) information as they feel comfortable. All retreats are for adults only. Please carefully read the schedule, information, and policies for complete information.

June 24 - 28, 2024 with Lavinia & GiGi Dobrin - Sovata, Romania
Couples Retreat –  Sovata, Romania

About the Facilitators:

 The Dobrins

Born in a Christian family, being the second of the six children, Gigi’s father had a profound influence on him by his faithfulness to God. For the first Bible of his family, his father paid 60% of his salary and it was not a new one! On January 7, 1972, Gigi decided to interrupt sports activities and dedicate his life to the ministry of Jesus, understanding then that diplomas and medals won by sport are nothing compared to the eternal life offered by God. It was the crucial moment of his life.

In 1977 Gigi graduated from the Technical University of Bucharest and moved to Medias for ministry at Bethel Baptist Church. Between 1980 and 1986, the Bethel Baptist Church recorded a rapid and significant increase, prompting the Communist authorities at that time to start a furious attack on the leadership of the Church and its members. He was interrogated, threatened and accused by the Securitate (Political Police) that if he did not become an active informant for them, he would be arrested and sentenced. Following the persecution, the two pastors of the Church emigrated to the US in March 1986. In this context, the Church began the search for a new Pastor and offered Gigi the position. After two weeks of fasting and prayer with his wife, Lavinia, Gigi gave a positive response to the Church, understanding God’s call very clearly.

Without a university theological training, Gigi began to participate into the BEE (Biblical Education by Extension) courses that were held in hidden places from the eyes of the communist authorities because these activities were forbidden. He often traveled hundreds of miles to get to the meeting places or in the hidden huts in the mountains.

32 years have passed since Gigi  started ministry as a pastor. The Revolution of December 1989 allowed freedom to plant new Churches in all the localities of the Medias area.

After completing the theological courses at the University of Bucharest in 1997,  Gigi successfully completed his Masters in Theology at Queen’s University of Belfast. In the year of 2002, he received the invitation to teach in the only accredited conservative Christian University from Europe, the Emanuel University in Oradea.  He obtained the PhD in Theology at the Babeş-Bolyai University in Cluj Napoca, Romania.

Since 1991, he has been part of the Council of the Baptist Union of Romania, an organization with over 1200 churches. Through the positions of ministry, he has traversed Romania thoroughly.

Gigi and Lavinia married in 1978 and have been blessed with three children (Andreea, Miriam and Reuben) and five wonderful grandchildren.  The Dobrins attended the first Double Honor International retreat which was held in May 2018 in France.  They are now partnering with us to lead pastor retreats in Romania as Double Honor seeks to serve, honor, and encourage those who serve in Christian ministry.

September 2024 with Lavinia & GiGi Dobrin - Sovata, Romania

TBD 2024 with Ana & Mike Dascalescu -Romania

Ladies Retreat –  Hotel Carpati, Predeal, Romania  (Regional Guests Only)

About the Facilitators:

We are appointed AG missionaries to Romania, a country from which we miraculously escaped communism in November, 1981. Along our journey, we have been telling our story to anyone who would hear about our amazing Heavenly Father! He is close to anyone who trusts Him! He gives us the courage and the strength we need to live a life according to His plan and He gives us the power to overcome any obstacle that blocks our way! Mike and I have been affiliated with and have been serving at Glad Tidings Church in Reading, PA, since 1989.

Since the fall of Communism, we felt compelled to take the Gospel of Jesus to the people of Romania. Year after year we took mission teams across Romania, preaching the Gospel and seeing many people saved. After the revolution Romania was lacking ministers, places of worship and leaders to help integrate and disciple new converts. Seeing this great need, we prayed and fasted, waiting on God to show us the next step. When the answer finally came, we left behind our jobs, our three married children, and our grandchildren to answer the call to full-time missions. We returned to Romania with the objective of planting churches, training leaders, and serving in the unreached region of Southeast Romania.  We are excited to now partner with Double Honor Ministries to honor, serve and encourage those who serve in Christian ministry!
