Features
How We Serve

Group Retreats

We serve those in ministry by providing complimentary 5 day retreats, allowing time to refresh the body, soul, and spirit. Most retreats are limited to 4-5 couples, which allows a small group dynamic. Retreats are loosely structured with ample free time to allow guests to unplug and relax.
L

Pastor-to-Pastor

Double Honor employs compassionate and experienced ministers to provide one-on-one mentoring, counseling and encouragement for clergy.  Contact our office to arrange this service.

Encouragement

We minister to men and women in ministry and their spouses as people who need encouragement and support – not as employees who simply need to be made more effective in ministry. Utilizing Luke 10:17-20, we remind ministers that their identity and self-esteem should be formed around the fact that they are Children of God rather that “what they do for Him.”

Whole Person Focus

Following Christ’s “Mission Statement” as outlined in Luke 4:18, we provide ministry to the whole person, body, soul, and spirit.

Excellence

We strive for excellence in all we do, doing our work as unto Christ.

Spouse Care

We place an emphasis on ministering to the spouse of the person in ministry.

Diverse Environment

We minister through the development of relationships. During retreats, guests are encouraged to have time alone, with their spouses, the group at large, and time with just the “guys” or “gals.”

Group Dynamic

We provide an encouraging group time, and experiential sharing, but limit these structured times to less than 3 hours per day.
+

Check-ups

Attendees are encouraged to consider having a monthly conference call with the other retreat attendees for the purpose of mutual support and encouragement.
U

Focus on the Few

We seek to maximize care for a few rather than minimally caring for many. While we periodically examine metrics and hold ourselves accountable to Christ, donors, and other stakeholders, we are not a metrics driven ministry.
Z

Obedience

We maintain that the only true measure of success in ministry is obedience to Christ, and that such obedience can only be accomplished when we “abide in Him.” John 15:5
~

Safe Environment

We provide a safe, confidential environment where pastors and ministry leaders can be completely transparent while receiving unconditional grace, acceptance, and encouragement.

Kingdom

We cooperate and network with like-minded ministries and organizations which provide care to persons in ministry. Double Honor is a Kingdom-minded, non-denominational ministry.
Core beliefs
What We Believe
The Bible is the inspired Word of God, authoritative for all of life.
God exists eternally in three persons-Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary. He led a sinless life took on Himself all our sins, died and rose again, and is seated at the right hand of the Father as our mediator and advocate.
All men everywhere are lost and face the judgement of God, and need to come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ through His shed blood on the cross.
Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.
We believe marriage is a covenant relationship between one man and one woman, and that all sexual behavior outside the bonds of a covenant relationship between a man and a woman is missing the mark.
Biblical Foundations
1 Timothy 5:17 tells us that elders (leaders/ministers) are to be considered “worthy of double honor.” “Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard at preaching and teaching.”
1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 amplifies this concept of ‘double honor’: “But we request of you, brethren, that you appreciate those who diligently labor among you, and have charge over you in the Lord and give you instruction, and that you esteem them very highly in love because of their work.
Hebrews 13:17 communicates that spiritual leaders should be allowed to do their jobs with “joy”: Let them do this (their ministry) with joy and not with grief, for this would be unprofitable for you.”Paul’s teaching also communicates that failure to allow ministers to do their work “with joy” is actually “unprofitable” for the reader.
In Matthew 25:40, Jesus makes it clear that we are to minister to those brothers of His who are in need, and that in so doing we are actually ministering to Him: “Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.” In the Old Testament we find that the priests were to be honored with the “best of the land,” obtaining their livelihoods from the gifts of God’s people: “All the best of the fresh oil and all the best of the fresh wine and of the grain, the first fruits of those which they give to the Lord, I give them to you.” Numbers 18:12
